Membership

After a year of participation in Ring of Bone Zendo activities, you are invited to become a member. We offer different levels of membership that reflect different levels of participation, from infrequent to regular. Please read the definitions listed here to find the correct membership level for you.

Making Fees

Regardless of your membership level, the annual membership fee is $40. You can pay with Venmo to the username @ROBZ_NC or send your check to our membership coordinator Cindy Leeson at cleeson611@gmail.com, (530) 913-9370 at P.O. Box 676, Colfax, CA 95713.

Membership Levels

  • Associate: I have been a participant at ROBZ for at least a year. I will maintain an ongoing but infrequent pattern of participation in ROBZ activities. I may or may not consider ROBZ my home zendo. I declare myself an associate member for the upcoming year.

  • Sustaining: I declare myself a sustaining member for the upcoming year. I have been a participant at ROBZ for at least a year. I consider ROBZ to be my home zendo and will participate regularly in at least three of the five ways listed:

    1. Weekly Zazen - twice a month or more

    2. Service - serving the sangha three days per year; preparing the newsletter, planning Mts. & Rivers sesshin, planning sesshin meals, shopping for sesshin food, attending workdays, special projects, being a pool leader, coordinating sesshin, sitting on a committee.

    3. Sesshin Attendance - at least one time per year

    4. Monthly Meetings for the Practice of Business - at least four MPB’s per year

    5. Other - at least two per year; attend Sangha Circles, Dharma Workshops, Buddha's Birthday, Founders' Day Service

  • Core: I have been a participant at ROBZ for at least a year. I consider ROBZ to be my home zendo. I will attend at least six Meetings for the Practice of Business a year. In addition, I will participate in three of the other four activities listed below. I have applied to the Practice and Care Committee for core membership and been accepted. I declare myself a core member for the upcoming year. Responsibilities:

    1. Weekly Zazen - twice a month or more

    2. Service - 24 hours of service, including one workday; serving on committees three days per year; preparing the newsletter, planning Mts. & Rivers sesshin, planning sesshin meals, shopping for sesshin food, attending workdays, special projects, being a pool leader, coordinating sesshin.

    3. Sesshin Attendance - attend sesshin at least three times per year

    4. Monthly Meetings for the Practice of Business - attend six or more MPB’s per year

    5. Other - attend three special events per year; Sangha Circles, Dharma Workshops, Buddha's Birthday, Founders' Day Service.
